Chestnut Terrace Bridge Project – January 23 Update The Chestnut Terrace bridge replacement project in Rockaway Township took a major stride toward completion this week when a precast structure was delivered and installment began on what could lead to at least a partial reopening of the bridge in the next four-to-eight weeks, winter weather permitting. East Blackwell Street Bridge Project – Starts January 27 Work is scheduled to start on Monday, January 27, to replace the deck on the East Blackwell Street bridge over the Rockaway River in Dover. The county-owned span will be closed to motor vehicle traffic, with a 2.8-mile detour in place for up to ten months. Read the County Press Release for more information on this project. Howard Boulevard Traffic Study & Survey The Howard Boulevard Traffic Safety Improvement Study will develop recommendations for improving safety on Howard Boulevard (CR 615) from Seasons Drive to the I-80 eastbound off-ramp in Mount Arlington. New NJ Transit Rail Schedules – Effective September 8 Amtrak has completed repairs to two rail interlockings at NY Penn Station and NJ Transit is able to restore service to the station. New schedules for NJ Transit Rail lines go into effect on September 8, including for the Morris & Essex and Montclair-Boonton Lines that serve Morris County. Ash Tree Removal Along County Roads Morris County is initiating a long-term tree removal program along County roads to deal with infestation caused by the Emerald Ash Borer, a small but deadly insect that infects and destroys ash trees in its path.
